Scouts‘ Collection

Boy and girl scouts have been taking part in the collection “Let’s build a school in Africa” since it started in 2004. Every year, hundreds of us go out in the streets where we introduce the project to Czech people – by slideshow of photographs of the constructed schools shown on a city square, infocentre on the pedestrian precinct or a benefit concert. All people may contribute to our moneyboxes.
You can recognize boy and girl scouts by a scarf around their necks and by a certificate they carry with themselves. In the course of the October week you may get to know a lot of interesting facts about Africa and contribute to a moneybox directly on the street.

“The collection is a possibility for children not only to talk about a help, but mainly to help through particular actions. Boy and girl scouts may also invite their classmates or even families into the project,” Mariana Ermlová, coordinator of the collection, explains. Since the beginning of the cooperation, 234 scout troops have taken part in the project, i. e. approximately 23,460 boy and girl scouts. Together they managed to collect almost 7 mil. CZK.
